Mount St. Helens

"I wanted to express my appreciation for the wonderful flight over Mt. St. Helens. The flight was absolutely breathtaking and a once-in-a-lifetime experience for my 3 grandchildren and me. The pilot explained to us in great detail the facts surrounding the eruption of Mt. St. Helens and the destruction that it caused. It was so well done that I felt like I was watching a documentary as we flew over the area. It was an education in the earth’s volcanic activity that they would never learn in a classroom. I filmed the entire flight and the children will be able to share it with their classmates when they return to school. Thank you for the education, the congeniality we received, and to the pilot for the safe and informative flight."

Mount St. Helens

"I have done this flight several times and I never lose the awe that I experience each time we take off and fly over the canyon. It is a wonderful way to experience up close the power of nature not only from the impact of the initial eruptions but also the amazing recovery of plants and wildlife that is still occurring today. I would recommend this tour for anyone for a once in a lifetime experience."

Mount St. Helens

"The helicopter tour with Hillsboro Aviation gave me a truly unforgettable and unique experience over Mt. St. Helens. Our pilot was very knowledgeable about the area and explained the history of the mountain as we flew over the crater, Spirit Lake and the Toutle River Valley. The entire operation was first-class, from start to finish. I’d recommend this once-in-a-lifetime experience to everyone!"

"I found the ADS-B traffic display on the instrument panel and the iPad to be a great early warning system to the PIC. Long before I came within visual range of proximity traffic, I could see it displayed in my hockey puck and could preliminarily determine whether the traffic would pose a risk…. I could have easily vectored myself away from the traffic without ATC assistance, because I could see its position, altitude, direction of travel, and groundspeed…I have never felt so airworthy during the 21 years that I have owned my plane."

"We recently decided to upgrade our 1964 Bonanza avionics panel with the inclusion of ADS-B out and in technology. Chris made it easy and swapped out our Garmin 530W giving us credit towards a GTN 750 and GDL 88. Chris and his team at Hillsboro Aviation then undertook a challenging installation with many complications and did the work in a timely and professional manner. Chris did an excellent job with installation as well as providing ongoing support and troubleshooting. After flying with our new avionics for a couple of months we are very pleased with everything - what a transformation!"

"We just returned home in our new airplane after about 20 hours of flying (bucked a 5-15 kt head wind the entire way). We absolutely love this plane! I wanted to thank you so much for such a great experience. This is the first plane we have purchased, and we’re completely pleased with the entire experience. Hillsboro Aviation’s sales manager and the entire team were such a great help through it all."

Film/Photo/News

"I was hired yesterday by a NY publication to make some aerial photos of an area near Sheridan, Ore. I called Hillsboro Aviation, got a good quote, and booked the flight. I showed up on schedule today and was greeted and welcomed by the staff there immediately... no standing around here. I made a last minute check of shot lists and art direction while my pilot thoroughly checked the aircraft. Once checked and secure, the pilot, Mary, shook my hand firmly, showed me how to secure my gear (with door removed), and we were off to business. Mary piloted the craft confidently to our pre-determined location. I requested a couple circles to get the photos I was after, and Mary steered the heli in the exact directions that I needed.

All said and done, successful photos and all, when we hit the tarmac I was surprised to find that the rate came in lower than the quote they originally gave me for the flight. All of that has a very significant influence on whom I'll trust, and most certainly hire, for my next aerial assignment.

Thanks for the solid flight, and top-notch service Hillsboro Aviation!! See you again soon!!!"

"From the very first time I called your establishment I sensed it was different. What came through clearly from the beginning is that you wanted to get it done to the highest standards, and cared about accurate communication. Initially, upon first meeting, each of you in your own way made me feel important and appreciated in a way that felt genuine in addition to professional. The culture you have created within your organization is very special. It goes beyond business to a level of competence and professionalism that is very rare in the general aviation industry. I have never been in an FBO of your caliber, or an avionics department with such careful organization...You all initially made me feel in good care, and with familiarity, even in better care. This goes beyond general expectation in business. In our society, we often experience after the initial sales pitch and the contract is signed, there will be less effort put forth to produce excellent results. In the case of Hillsboro Aviation I experienced more care and more personal attention as time progressed, even with the unfolding of unexpected production difficulties...This is not typical business practice in our culture, and a true breath of fresh air."

"Thank you very much for the excellent service yesterday. Your company was well represented and made a seemingly logistical nightmare appear flawless. Nuno and Mike did an incredible job flying and were a pleasure to work with. Cordell and the other loader coordinated the tour of over 60 people inside our time window. The helicopter ride was the highlight of the day for those of our guests who participated. I cannot emphasize enough how well your crew performed yesterday. I look forward to working with your company in the future."

I received truly exceptional service so I wanted to make sure I took time to acknowledge the person involved...At the time I was a student pilot with my check ride the next day. As my instructor was going through the aircraft logs we discovered the pitot-static system was due for an inspection. While I could have technically flown VFR without it, that kind of action never bodes well under the eye of an examiner. We called several places who were either too busy, closed soon, were not certified etc. We called your location around 4pm from Harrisburg, OR (about an hour away). We explained the situation and Chris said they would stay late to perform the check. We arrived and 3 guys came running to get the airplane in your facility, and immediately started work. Chris would update us as we were in the lobby waiting and offered us some cold water. The check was performed and we had a clean bill of health. I took the check ride the next day and the training wheels are off, I’m now a private pilot.

Personally I’m a manager at the largest RV service facility in Oregon. So I can genuinely appreciate what it takes to have to do something like this. Getting a customer in and out happy is one thing. Staying late, keeping a tight schedule, and getting a customer out happy is entirely another. An employee that understands when to adjust standard operations and has the work ethic to do it, in my opinion is a very, very valuable. I would feel justified in calling this platinum level customer service. I really don’t know anything that could have made this interaction any better.

“…it is an unavoidable piece of the puzzle to have mechanical issues with helicopters. I am impressed, once again, with your mechanics and their thorough check of the ship... I am also very pleased with the rapid nature in which the problem was resolved...I know it is the bottom line for the company, however I get the impression that it is more than that for you and your folks. It is nice to see that you take such pride in the Hillsboro name and do so by showing an eagerness to keep the helicopter available for whatever mission arises.”
