Trey Bates

Trey joined the team at Hillsboro Aviation in 2024 as the Avionics Manager. Trey has worked in aviation maintenance since obtaining his A&P from Wayne Community College in 2013. His experience comprises several airframes to include Beechcraft King Air, Cessna Citations, and CASA 235s. His work has taken him across the globe, creating a lifelong passion for travel and appreciation for diverse cultures. He has worked across multiple roles that include cargo loading, general maintenance, and avionics while taking on additional leadership roles while in remote locations.

Trey is a graduate of Western Carolina University and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Law and a Bachelor of Science in Management. He highly values education, and as such continues his own in project management, finance, and information technology.

Trey is a tinkerer at heart, and in his free time refurbishes vintage mechanical items of a varying nature to include classic cars, old computers, and vintage mechanical wrist watches. He still enjoys travel both on and off the clock and preferably with his wife in tow.
