Director of Business Development | Helicopter & UAS
Russ joined Hillsboro Aviation in 2019 as director of business development | helicopter & UAS. His aviation career spans 32 years as a U.S. Coast Guard rescue swimmer, MH-65 (Airbus AS 365) instructor pilot, C-130 first pilot, and UAS operations professional. With over 3,800 total pilot hours and 1,500 aircrewman hours, Russ has flown the T-34, TH-57, MH-65, and C-130 conducting search and rescue, law enforcement, and counter-narcotics missions. Most recently, he served as manager of commercial UAS operations providing ISR services for a variety of commercial customers. He holds an MS in Quality Systems Management and commercial instruments rating in rotor wing and single-engine fixed wing.
As director of business development for helicopter and UAS, Russ is responsible for pursuing new opportunities in the areas of helicopter utility, natural resources, aerial survey, construction, search and rescue, film/photo/news, heli-skiing, charter, and UAS operations. He also oversees new and used helicopter sales and management, including managing Hillsboro Aviation’s commercial consultant program for factory-new Airbus helicopters.
Russ enjoys spending time with his wife, six children, five grandchildren, two dogs, and horse. You can also find him training Ju Jitsu and volunteering at his church.
