Franz graduated from the University of Bayreuth in Germany with a degree in business and sport administration before pursuing his career as a helicopter pilot. In 1999, he graduated in 1999 from Hillsboro Aviation’s helicopter training program. Franz held the position as Part 141 Chief Flight Instructor for several years before moving into a utility line pilot position with Hillsboro Aviation. In 2006, he accepted the position of contract and charter department manager which included the responsibilities of the Director of Operations.

Steven is a 38+ year veteran of the aviation and aerospace industries. Starting as a military aviator in the US Army, he has since been involved in both airplane and helicopter aviation as a line pilot, chief pilot, check airman, test pilot, demonstration pilot and director of operations flying a variety of missions, including precision external load, EMS, firefighting, aerial photography, agricultural, seismic, high altitude, jungle, logging and VIP. Since 1995, he has been heavily involved with strategic executive leadership in US and international aircraft, mission equipment and MRO sales, including time at helicopter OEMs, Enstrom Helicopters and Kaman Aerospace. Steven is a licensed instrument-rated commercial pilot with ratings in single and multi-engine airplanes and helicopters with more than 10,000 flight hours as a pilot in command. He was a certificated flight instructor for helicopters and airplanes with experience in more than 64 makes and models of aircraft.

Rich joined the Hillsboro Aviation team in April of 2015 as chief pilot. Rich first entered the helicopter industry in 1985, inspired by stories of his uncle who flew in the Vietnam war. He has supported a wide variety of missions including fire fighting and EMS. His past experience includes 11 years in Alaska as a utility pilot, 4 years as director of operations, and 14 years as chief pilot. Englert holds a commercial helicopter license with instrument and flight instructor ratings and has over 12,000 flight hours.

Tom is the man behind the scenes responsible for coordinating project logistics and monitoring operations. His attention to detail and follow-through enable him to meet the needs of our customers and our employees in the field with efficiency and accuracy. Tom began working at Hillsboro Aviation in 2007 after receiving a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon.

Paul is a graduate of Colorado Aero Tech and has been in the aviation business for 29 years. He began his career at Rockwell International working on the B1-B long-range bomber production program. Later, Paul transferred to Rockwell’s Corporate Flight Operations at Los Angeles International Airport to maintain aircraft used by the company executives. In 1990, he accepted a position at Aero Air first as Chief Inspector, then Quality Manager and finally as Maintenance Director managing all maintenance and business sectors of the company. In 2000, Paul started working as Director of Maintenance for Aerovertigo, Inc. maintaining a fleet of privately owned business jets and recreational aircraft. In 2008, he began work at Flightcraft as Chief Inspector and in October of 2008 started at Hillsboro Aviation. Paul has attended over 25 factory training schools.

Josh assumed the role of vehicle fleet manager in August 2015. He brings with him 10 years of experience with vehicle fleet management, including six years as operations manager for a motor coach charter company and five years working for the Montana Department of Transportation. He is a graduate of the DOT Management Program and holds a commercial drivers’ license with hazmat and tanker endorsement. Josh is responsible for the oversight and management of all vehicle fleet, support equipment and drivers for the contract and charter department. He moved from Montana to Oregon with his family to join the Hillsboro Aviation team and is excited to work in an industry he finds both fascinating and rewarding.
