Franz graduated from the University of Bayreuth in Germany with a degree in business and sport administration before pursuing his career as a helicopter pilot. In 1999, he graduated in 1999 from Hillsboro Aviation’s helicopter training program. Franz held the position as Part 141 Chief Flight Instructor for several years before moving into a utility line pilot position with Hillsboro Aviation. In 2006, he accepted the position of contract and charter department manager which included the responsibilities of the Director of Operations.

Markus was born and raised in Germany. He worked as a Hillsboro Aviation helicopter CFI for two years after completing his training. Markus performed firefighting and logging operations for Columbia Helicopters prior to being hired by PHI in 2001. His employment with PHI continued for 10 years and included offshore oil support in Bell 206, 407 and 412 helicopters, working as an instructor and Check Airman and working as the EMS lead pilot in northern California flying an EC-135 and AS-350. Markus joined Hillsboro Aviation as helicopter Chief Instructor in 2010 and accepted the position of Chief Pilot in December 2012.
Markus has a vast amount of knowledge and experience with multiple aircraft. He has an extensive instruction background and experience with night vision goggles, mountain flying, EMS operations, firefighting and offshore oil support.

Tom is the man behind the scenes responsible for coordinating project logistics and monitoring operations. His attention to detail and follow-through enable him to meet the needs of our customers and our employees in the field with efficiency and accuracy. Tom began working at Hillsboro Aviation in 2007 after receiving a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon.
